On March 12, 2024, Trina Ward Fontaine, the Director of the Mt. Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry, delivered an insightful presentation about the impactful work her organization is accomplishing. She shared the following key insights with us.
For over thirty years, the Mount Kisco Food Pantry has been a beacon of support, offering fresh and nutritious food to those in need within the community. The pantry proudly operates a "Choice Food Pantry" program weekly, accessible to individuals from 21 different communities in Northern Westchester.
In the year 2023, the pantry achieved remarkable milestones:
- The pantry experienced 102,000 patron visits, which has impressively more than doubled since 2019.
- Weekly, the pantry supports an average of 630 households, translating to roughly 1,900 individuals. This number represents a significant 31% increase from the previous year, setting a new record for the pantry.
- The pantry distributed a staggering 830,000 pounds of food, sufficient to prepare approximately 1.38 million meals.
- The pantry's operations were bolstered by the generosity of over 475 volunteers, who collectively contributed around 8,800 hours of their time.
The Mt. Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry is deeply committed to enhancing the health and welfare of the Northern Westchester community.
